Tribute to Spring

I know spring is on its way when my Crocuses and Daffodils peek up from the frozen ground and push their strong, fresh stems higher. That bit of green delights me, and sends me into a flurry of activity. The list of things to do grows daily, as I merrily dive into touch-up painting, and outside cleaning and organizing.  I know that when spring is over and summer settles, it will be too hot to accomplish some tasks, so this is the time to hustle! I’m thrilled to discover a ladybug (early March – in Idaho?) and watch for the return of the Robin, his sweet music missed all through the winter. Even though the sun is still a little cold, and frost covers the sleeping grass in the early morning, the temperature gradually climbs and promises a green future. The vista of dancing clouds on the horizon spread their designs in glorious panoramas of beauty, dazzled with gold and bright pink sunsets. Seasons exchange their circadian images, a sight that thrills, embraces, and comforts the senses. Every day, surprises await the watcher, and ambush, with glee, the wits of all.  Spring isn’t truly here until the sweet trill of the meadowlarks’ crystalline call sails with the breezes, announcing the new sun in the morning, and the gathering dusk of twilight’s descent. These are marvelous things that we can depend on – every day, every year, and each moment in between. Embrace the world around you and join in the celebration of spring.
